Classical Sociological Theories and Social Conflicts

Introduction: The ideas of classical sociological theorists Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile Durkheim, played an important role in the development of sociology. These theories help explain social conflicts and struggles that have taken place in past centuries. They can also be applied to social problems today, as most of them are similar to social issues of the past or effects of past issues. Some important points covered by these theorists are the roles of rationalization, bureaucracy, religion, and suicide; these pheromones tie into each other either as one being an effect of the other, or the duality and interdependence of some. Marx: Marx said that forms of capital were present on a small scale centuries before the shift from feudalism to capitalism. They were in the form of merchant and lending activities, and these simple commodities are what created the base that made it possible for the growth of capitalism. A main point in the beginning of capitalism is private property and the right to own it. Private property and private ownership are cornerstones in capitalism because people are free to invest, use, or sell private property whenever they want, which leads to the creation of a free market. Private property and private ownership lead to the creation of two classes, the bourgeoisies and the proletariat.
